Aston Villa 2-9 Preston North End

Numerous changes were made from the team that faces West Ham United the day before. In came Atky, Pete, Johnny PNE, Anthony, Dan and Des to replace a few of the lads who had done so well the day before.

Aston Villa started brightly and it was taking a while for the new look PNE team to settle down. The dead lock was finally broken after 25 mins through Chris Chambers and after that it was just basically one way traffic.

Goals followed at regular intervals but it was good to see the goals shared out amongst the team. Aston Villa were not the strongest of opponents and if they game had gone on any longer the Preston team would have run away with it. But considering the high tempo of the game against West Ham United less than 24 hours earlier it was another good performance by the Preston squad.

Special mention for the lads that came in everyone of them did great and it argues well for the future that we have players who can come in and do such a great job for the team.
